Batthány castle and museum in the town of Körmend
The László Batthyány-Strattmann Museum, with its various permanent and temporary exhibitions, can be found in the main building of the Batthyány castle, built in Baroque style around the 18th century, in the town of Körmend. The permanent exhibition called “the Batthyány family” can be seen in the representative hall, i.e. the Knights’ Hall, of the castle. Among the various interactive exhibits you can study the history of the family from the 13th century to the recent days.

The exhibition entitled “Heritage of generations” offers an insight into the archaeology, geography guild values and the civic cultural values of the 19th-20th centuries. In the separate room an exhibition, containing the reconstructions and copies of Batthyány-related objects, was created for the sake of equal opportunities in a way that they can be touched, for the blind and those with limited eyesight. The shoe history collection deals with the history of shoemaking. Extraordinary pieces include a pair of shoe of Queen Elisabeth and famous Hungarian actress Marai Jászai (1850-1926).
